DOVER - Yvette Cecile McKenney, 78, of Dover, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017, after a period of failing health. Born on August 20, 1938, Yvette prided herself in her lifelong residence in Dover. She devoted herself to her family and friends, and she enjoyed a lifetime of social activities including vacations, Bingo, and game nights. Prior to her retirement years, Yvette was employed by the Dover School District, working in the school system so she could be available to her children. She was also employed by Seacoast Savings Bank and Rockingham Electric, among other endeavors. In her leisure time, Yvette enjoyed reading and word puzzles. She loved crocheting and knitting for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and often contributed her projects to craft fairs in support of the Rollinsford Fire Department. Her spaghetti, lasagna and Cherry Pie Yummy were favorites at holidays. Yvette is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard McKenney, and their three children: Randy McKenney of Spring Hill, Florida; Denise Knowles and her husband Harry of Rollinsford; and Joyce McKenney of Northfield. She also leaves behind two grandsons: Eric Knowles and his wife Amanda of Somersworth; and David Knowles and his fiancée, Margaret DiSessa, of Rollinsford; as well as five great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Samuel, Makayla, Leah, and Abigail and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be missed by all. Yvette's faith was strengthened by the recent promotion of her uncle, Venerable William Gagnon, in his journey to sainthood. She took great comfort in her belief that she will be reunited with him, her parents, Arthur and Julia LeBlanc, and all her family and friends who predeceased her. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors for their outstanding care and kindness during her stay at Wentworth Douglas Hospital and her physician of many years, Dr. Jeffrey Russell.
