Feb. 16, 1929 - Jan. 4, 2017 On Jan. 4, surrounded by her kids, grandkids and great grandkids we lost the matriarch of the family, our beloved mom and grandma, Wilma Burnett. Her life's work of family first, unconditional love and the importance of a good hairdo will be carried on by all those who loved her the most. Born in Arkansas in 1929 she moved to California with her parents, Willard and Ettie Lawrence; two sisters and two brothers. She lived in Vacaville for over 60 years. Her first job was mother but she also enjoyed working at Basic for 30 years. She married Richard Humphrey in 1945 and had three sons, Richard, Robbie and Ron. She divorced and later she met and married Smiley Burnett and had a daughter, Brenda Burnett Brace. Wilma was very proud of her Indian heritage; Choctaw and Cherokee. She collected turquoise jewelry, arrowheads and was a member of the group, the Sierra Outlaws. She is survived and forever loved by her children, Richard and Joan Humphrey of Shingle Springs, Ca, Ron and Mary Humphrey of Vacaville, Brenda and Fred Brace of Arbuckle, Ca; sister, Wanda Paloma of Vacaville; seven grandchildren; 21 great grandkids; five great great grandkids, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Smiley Burnett; son, Robbie Humphrey; grandson, Tommy Humphrey; great granddaughter, Juliet DiGeorge; sister, Nita Rice; brothers, Bud and Wayne Lawrence and her parents, Willard and Ettie Lawrence. For her family she was a constant protector and blessing. She will be greatly missed and forever loved by all who knew her. She left an incredible legacy of unconditional love.
