In memory of
Willie Riggan Merkel, TX Wille Mae Davis Riggan, 86, passed away on February 15, 2017 at 2:16PM. She was one of 6 children born to William Luther Davis and Beulah Mae Herron Davis on March 8, 1930 in Fisher Country. She went to school at Newman, Sylvester and graduated from Trent High School. She came to Mulberry Canyon in January 1946 where she met her love Murrel Riggan. They dated 1 1/2 years and were married for 55 1/2 years. She was blessed with four children. She was a homemaker, farmer, worked at Camp Butman, Aleens Sewing Factory, Fabric Store, and her own upholstery shop. She was a member of Pioneer Methodist Church since 1957 where she was very involved. She taught all age classes and oversaw the Valentine Parties, the Crowning of Kings, Queens, Sweethearts, and Heroes for ten years, along with a great banquet the church had. Her special family. She is survived by four children: Glenna Jane Clark and husband Bill of Merkel, Patricia Ann Featherston and husband David of Novice; two sons, Timothy Wayne Riggan and wife Dianna of Snyder, and Lonnie Earl Riggan and wife Teresa of Merkel. She is survived by one sister, Letrace Anderson of Lufkin; and three sister in-laws, Glenda Davis of Gallup, New Mexico, Betty Lou Satterwhite and Dodie Burt of Merkel. She also leaves 16 special grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Murrel; two brothers, Lewin and Calvin; and two sisters, Loneta and Sara (Salty) She loved God's beautiful creations, sunrises, sunsets, birds, flowers, mountains, clouds, and the smell of fresh cut hay, deer, cattle, and the freedom of open spaces. She felt a little bit of heaven on earth in Mulberry Canyon and was most at peace while driving her tractor there. Families and friends were very special to her. She thought of them as her jewels in her journey of life. She was thankful for the privilege of being an American and for all the men and women who fought to keep it safe. Faith in letting the spirit lead her and her great love for others is what made her strong. Her service will be at Pioneer Methodist Church FM 126 S at 2:00PM, Saturday, February 18, 2017. Burial will be held at White Church Cemetery beside her love of 57 years. She would say, "So long, let God's spirit lead you and may God bless each one." In lieu of flowers donations can be made to White Church Cemetery.
