COAL TOWNSHIP — William James Zimmerman, 83, of Coal Township, passed away at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Mountain View: A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Burnside, Dec. 29, 1933, a son of Alfonse Zimmerman and Margaret Young Zimmerman. He attended Coal Township schools. William served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a supervisor for Furman's Cannery, a cook for Shamokin Elks and a bartender for Rescue Fire Co. William was a member of the Rescue Fire Co., Independence Fire Co. and Redman's Association, where he was a past officer. He is survived by his children, Karthryn Bunch and her husband Thomas, Ronald Zimmerman and his wife, Cyn, John Zimmerman and his wife, Patricia, Lorene Jones and her husband, Mike, Jason Zimmerman and his wife, Anna, and Jeremy Zimmerman; a step daughter, Tonia Clark and herhusband, Steve; 18 grandchildren, four step grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Al Zimmerman. He was preceded in death by a son, William J. Zimmerman, on April 5, 2017; two brothers, Jack and Danny Zimmerman; and three sisters, Rita Orner, June Snyder and Sally Zimmerman. ZIMMERMAN — William James Zimmerman, 83, of Coal Township. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, from Farrow Funeral Directors, 240 W. Chestnut St, Shamokin, with Rev. Howard McKenzie officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
