William "Bill" Winchester
William "Bill" Winchester May 25, 1939 - April 11, 2017 Visalia William Fredrick Winchester (Bill), 77, of Visalia, California passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, surrounded by family. Bill was born in Modesto, California on May 25, 1939. He was raised and educated in Hughson, California. Bill married the love of his life, Mary Hallam in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 12, 1962. They began their life in together in Avenal, California, but ultimately made Visalia their home in 1986. Bill worked for PG&E as an Electrical Cable Splicer for over 30 years, retiring in 1995. He was a loving husband to Mary for 55 years and he greatly loved his children, grandchildren and extended family. An avid outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing, most often in large family outings. Having spent a good portion of his career working in and around the Bay Area, he developed a strong affinity for all things Oakland, never losing his love for the A's and Raiders. He was a wonderfully supportive grandfather to his seven grandchildren, who loved knowing Papa would be there rooting them on. Wherever he went, Bill made friends, whether amongst the spectators at a grandchild's sporting event or at his favorite restaurant, and he got a kick out of teasing his friends and family alike. He enjoyed a special relationship with his nephew, Nate Henry and his family, who would often stop by to visit whenever they were in the area. Over the years, Bill had a good time going to casinos every now and then, recently traveling to Laughlin with Mary. Bill leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Mary of Visalia; three sons, Randy of Fresno, Billy (Keli) of Hanford, and John of Visalia; seven grandchildren, Beau, Cody, Addi, Sammi, Richard, Russell, and Jason; one great-grandchild with two on the way; seven siblings, Janet Lake, Dee Smith, Vivian Williams (Clyde), George Henry, Don Lake, Bob Henry (Barbara) and Alice Bryant (Wayne); along with numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Boe and Dorothy Dial; his brother Russell Lake and sisters Sharon Hill, Rita Hall, and Dolores Silva. At this time there will be no services scheduled.
