William C. VanSyckle
Van Syckle 81, of Rocky River, Ohio passed away on January 10, 2017. Bill was born in Rocky River on July 30, 1935 to the late John R. and Norma (Caldwell) Van Syckle. He was a graduate of Rocky River High School (class of 1953) and Kent State University (class of 1957). Bill began his banking career at City Loan and Savings, moved to Central National Bank, and retired from Society National Bank in 1990 as a Vice President/Regional Manager. A life-long lover of sports, his hobbies included basketball, tennis, golf, and later, playing pool with friends. He was also a loyal Browns fan until the end. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Gayle, in 2004. He is survived by his daughters, Kimberley (Kevin) Nykanen of Bristow, VA and Stacey (Keith) Iverson of Soquel, CA, grandaughter Nalia Iverson, brothers John Jr. (Ann) Van Syckle of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI and Timothy (Laura) Van Syckle of Delray Beach, FL. He is also survived by nephews Jeffrey (Vanessa) Van Syckle, John III (Natalie) Van Syckle, Michael (Lindsay) Van Syckle and seven great-nieces and nephews. In addition, he is survived by stepchildren Rene (Cyrus) Hamadi, Diane (Ross) Wilkoff, Daniel (Katie) Tavens and nine step-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Cleveland Animal Protective League.
