William Edward Plaus (Bill), of Burnt Hills, NY, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on October 17, 2016 at the Glendale Home in Scotia, NY. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Marion Joos Plaus, whom he married on March 20, 1948; they were married for 65 years. Bill was born to the late Joseph and Evelyn Davey Plaus on September 24, 1924 in Schenectady, NY. He graduated from Draper High School in 1941 after which he worked for General Electric in Schenectady. In 1943 Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division in World War II on the European front. After the war, he re-enlisted in the Army Air Forces, which became the Air Force, and serve in both Europe and California. Bill attended Syracuse University on the GI Bill and received a BS in Accounting. After working for the General Electric Company for many years, Bill retired in the mid 1980s. He and Marion enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with family. Left to cherish his memory are Bill and Marion's three children, Dr. William J. Plaus and his wife, Maria Creavin of Denver, Colorado; Peggy Plaus and her husband, Bill Kirschner, of Parker, Colorado; and Marianne Plaus and her wife, Necia Meadows, of Broadlands, Virginia, and Greensboro, North Carolina. He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Alana, Joseph, and Deirdre Plaus and Mackenzie Kirschner. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Catherine Nolte; and his wife, Marion. On Saturday, October 22nd, there will be calling hours at 8:30 a.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road, Glenville.
