William "Bill" Peter Pihos, 73, of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, passed away on October 15, 2016, to join his beloved late son, Michael William, and his late parents, Peter and Marya nee Prevolos. He was surrounded by his treasured children and their spouses, Andria (John Vatianou), Peter (Stefania Heim), and Deanna (Cary Heckman), and by his devoted wife, Sandra nee Mageras, who lovingly cared for him throughout the last two months of his life as he showed incredible courage and strength in the face of impossible health challenges. During his 30-year career as a franchisee of McDonalds Corporation, Bill was a founding member of the first Ronald McDonald House and a board member of the Glen Ellyn Economic Development Corporation among other significant community contributions. His favorite roles were "superdad"-founding the Glenbard South hockey program, managing the Chicago Young Americans, and coaching and guiding his children in countless other ways-and "Papou" to his six cherished grandchildren, Kosta, Markos, Michela, Nikitas, Dean, and Pia, for whom he would go to the ends of the earth. Bill could fix absolutely anything and loved cars, boats, and fishing. His easy way and gregarious personality were loved by so many, including sister Barbara (Michael) Kalleres, inseparable cousin Christine (Ernie) Cochanis, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and friends. Visitation Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17W201 Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace. Family and friends are asked to gather Thursday at Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 2501 S. Wolf Road, Westchester for an 11 a.m. funeral service. Interment at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
