LACY, JR., WILLIAM 'EARL,' 70 Ocala - William 'Earl' Lacy, Jr., age 70, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at his home in Tallahassee, Florida after a long battle from a near fatal truck accident and cancer. Earl was born January 20, 1946 at Hazel Green, Kentucky and was the son of the late William E. Sr., and Edna Mae Immel Lacy of Georgetown, Kentucky. Mr. Lacy graduated in 1963 from Bell County High School in Pineville, Kentucky where he played trumpet and was drum major in the band. He also attended the University of Kentucky. On December 12, 1964, in Pineville, Kentucky, Earl married his high school sweetheart, Pat Akers of Pineville. In 1973, Mr. Lacy transferred with his job to Ocala, Florida and lived there over forty years. He was a heavy equipment mechanic. After his retirement in 2011, he moved to Tallahassee. Earl was a member of the Disciples of Christ-Christian Church and served as deacon for many years. He believed in the Lord with all his heart. Mr. Lacy is survived by his loving wife, Patricia 'Pat' Akers Lacy of Tallahassee; his son, Robert D. Lacy and his wife, Valerie, of Tallahassee; two granddaughters, Savannah Lacy- Lustria (Evan) and Ashlyn B. Lacy, both of Tallahassee; two great grandchildren, Evalynn Lacy-Lustria and Elijah Lacy - Lustria, both of Tallahassee; two special nieces, Alma O'Leary (Michael) of Ocala and Theresa Graham (Ron) of Belleview, FL; sister, Kathy Nippert (Fred) of Indiana; brother, John Lacy (Rosemary) of Georgetown; two nephews, Nicholas Ergle (Heather) of Ocala and Justin Johnston of Orlando; two great nephews, Koen and Lake Ergle of Ocala; two nieces, Karen Nippert of North Carolina and Susie Moller (Rene of Ohio; two nephews, Tim Nippert (Kerry) of Georgetown and Preston Lacy (Andrea); many cousins in Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee and Florida; and a host of friends from over the years. Viewing will be held at 10 am, Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala. Funeral services will follow at 11am in the Hiers-Baxley Chapel with the Reverend Charles Welch officiating. Burial will follow at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens, 5050 SW 20th Street, Ocala.
