William L. "Bill" Kohlbrecher
William Kohlbrecher William L. "Bill" Kohlbrecher, 73, of Highland, Ill., born Feb. 2, 1943, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo. Bill was to Edward and Josephine, nee Kruep, Kohlbrecher, at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, Ill. On Oct. 12, 1996, he married Sandra Kohler in Highland, Ill. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, Ill., Highland Sportsman's Club, Ozark Fly Fishers and Federation of Fly Fishers. Bill attended St. Paul High School and was the first employee of Kaiser Drug Store, Highland, Ill. He was a great husband, dad, grandpa and brother. He was an avid fisherman, loved fly fishing and was a fly tyer. He liked to cook, enjoyed fixing things and would give a stranger the shirt off his back. After 41 years of service, Bill retired from General Motors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Josephine Kohlbrecher; a brother, David Kohlbrecher and a nephew, Brent Kohlbrecher. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Kohlbrecher, Highland, Ill.; children, Carol (Roger) Weiss, Pierron, Ill., Billie (Significant other, Jeff Hofmann) Singleton, Marine, Ill., Tonya (Chris) Downing, Cary, N.C.; five grandchildren, Abby Jo, Miranda and Maggie Weiss, Josie Singleton and Luke Hofmann; three brothers, Tom (Claudia) Kohlbrecher, Mountain Home, Ark., Ed (Marilyn) Kohlbrecher, Bonita Springs, Fla., Bob (significant other Phyllis Johnson) Kohlbrecher, Highland, Ill.; one sister, Susie (Gaye) Michael, Highland, Ill.; many nieces and nephews who loved him. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Education Foundation or Masses. Visitation: Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, Ill.
