GRIMSHAW, WILLIAM O. 103, passed away on April 12, 2017. He was the loving husband of the late Constance H. (Stergios) Grimshaw and the son of the late William and Henrietta (Sweet) Grimshaw. William was an electrical foreman for the Providence Fire Alarm for 29 years before retiring. He was a WWII Combat Navy Veteran, and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Area. William was awarded the WWII Victory Medal. He was a member of the Navy Seabee Veterans of America Island X1 Assoc., American Legion Post 60, FRA Branch 42, and The Kelley Gazzero VFW Post in Cranston. William enjoyed the circus and gardening. He cherished his friends. He traveled to Europe, Asia and South America with his wife. He was the beloved father of Barbara C. Goldis of East Greenwich and devoted grandfather of Scott and Jonathan Goldis. A special thanks to his best friends, Ed Callahan and Joe Quinn. His funeral service will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 9 am from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 pm.
