GASTONIA - William Richard "Bill" Glover, 86, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born Sept. 9, 1930, in Clover, S.C. son of the late Lloyd Mason Glover and Clara McGinnis Glover. He was husband to Clara Armstrong Glover, of the home, for over 61 years. Bill was a quiet man, loyal and devoted to his wife and their family. He enjoyed bowling on several teams in the local Gastonia area and was fond of watching NASCAR and the Atlanta Braves. He spent his entire career employed as a Sheet Metal Worker with Park's Cramer and then retiring from Pneumafil Industries. Bill was also a veteran, serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his wife, Clara, Bill is survived by two sons, William "Billy" Richard Glover Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Gastonia, and Larry "Doug" Douglas Glover and his wife, Mary, of Belmont; three grandsons, Michael Glover and his wife, Mary, Larry Glover and his wife, Melissa and Jordan Paris; three great grandchildren, Jamey Glover, Mason Glover and Ava Paris; a brother, Bobby P. Glover; sister, Joyce G. Patterson, sister and brother-in-law, Lucy and Don Hudson and many nieces and nephews. Bill is preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters. A celebration of life service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, in McLean Funeral Directors, Founders Chapel, 700 S. New Hope Road, Gastonia. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
