William Richard Ferney
William Richard Ferney December 19, 1932 - October 18, 2016 RIVER HEIGHTS - William Richard Ferney passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, in Ogden, Utah, at the McKay Dee Hospital following complications from an aneurysm. He passed away surrounded by his wife and other family members. William was born Dec. 19, 1932, to Helen Elizabeth Crapo and William Downing Ferney in Parker, Idaho. He graduated from South Fremont High School and then served a mission for the LDS Church in New Mexico and Texas. Soon after returning, he married his high school sweetheart, Carol Romrell, on Nov. 21, 1956 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He graduated from Utah State University with B.S. degree in physics and worked as an engineer for 34 years at ATK Thiokol. He was always curious about the world around him and enjoyed learning new things such as photography, astronomy, painting, computer programming, woodworking, electronics, fixing cars and other things. He loved spending time with his family and was a natural and patient teacher. He is survived by his wife Carol and children Cheryl (Jerry) Mast, Janet (Douglas) Major, Brenda (Edward) Burningham, Lucinda (Scott) Bingham, Lorraine Hobbs, and Robert (Shirlene) Ferney; 28 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; sister Vonda (Arden) Lauritzen; brother Don (Linda) Ferney; and brothers-in-law Merrill Shupe, Owen (Vella) Romrell and Dale (Bonnie) Romrell. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carol's parents, sister Marjean Shupe, and brothers/sisters-in-law Marva (William) Rogers and Delwin (Janis) Romrell. The funeral will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at the River Heights Stake Center located at 800 S. 600 East, in River Heights. A viewing will only be held at the church from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. before the funeral. Burial will be at the Providence City Cemetery located in River Heights, Utah.
