Bracey, William T. William T. Bracey entered eternal rest Sunday, February 12 2017 at the West Haven Veterans Hospital. He was born in Henderson N.C. to the late William Henry and Annie Louise Dent Bracey. William had been a resident of Bridgeport for the past 70 years. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged. He was educated in the Bridgeport public School system, and graduated from Bassick High School and the Bridgeport Hospital School of Inhalation Therapy. William had the distinction of being one of the first African-American Inhalation Therapist in the country, working at Bridgeport hospital, and Norwalk Hospital. He was a resident at the Highvue Manor Assisted Living Facility in Hamden CT for 18 years. Everyone found William to be a soft spoken, kind, and gentle man who was well liked. He leaves to mourn, two sons Derek Bracey, and William Charles Bracey of Los Angeles CA. A devoted sister, Lillie Moore of Trumbull CT, two nieces Kim Bailey of N.C., and Rachel Moore of Bridgeport CT, and a one grandniece; Mekai McGougan of N.C. Funeral services will be held Friday, February, 17, 2017, at 12:30 PM at Mt. Aery Baptist Church of Bridgeport, 73 Frank St. Bridgeport with Rev. Anthony Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in the Long Hill Burial Grounds in Trumbull, CT with full military honors. Friends are invited to the viewing Friday from 11:00am to 12:30pm at the church.
