In memory of
William Davis (Bill) Asnip II
William (Bill) Davis Asnip, II William Davis Asnip, II died on October 13, 2016. His love for his wife, Susan and his children was only surpassed by his love of the Lord. He was born September 10, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA and moved to Greenville, SC when he was 14. He attended Clemson University where he was named Best Drilled Cadet and played on the tennis and basketball teams. He served in the US Army and then began a career in the garment industry. In 1977, he retired as Vice President of Manufacturing for Vanity Fair, took a job with the Sea Pines Company and moved the family to Hilton Head Island. At Sea Pines, he developed a passion for the real estate business. Before retiring in 2014, he was the owner and Broker in Charge of Century 21 A Lowcountry Realty, a business he owned with his wife for 27 years. He was an active member of St. Luke's Church serving on the Vestry as Senior Warden, Sunday school teacher, Stephen's minister and many other ministries. Sharing his faith with his children and grandchildren was his most important purpose in life and he succeeded. Bill is remembered for his quick wit, his kindness and his compassion for others. He took joy in making a stranger smile and he often reminded loved ones that his only regrets were things he did not try. His motto was "go for it!" He is survived by his wife of 46-years, Susan, his brother George Asnip, and children William Davis Asnip, IV (Jr.), Deborah Brunner (Dave), Michael Asnip (Amy), Jennifer Quattlebaum (Frank) and Kenneth Asnip (Whitney). Also, surviving are grandchildren Anna Asnip, Christopher Dawson, Kathleen Dawson, Ashlynn Koon, Manning Asnip, Dakota Asnip, Kartwright Asnip, Haven Asnip, Eliza Asnip, John Quattlebaum, Will Quattlebaum, Watson Asnip, and Colton Asnip, and great grandchildren Claire Asnip, Ryder Asnip, Penelope Asnip, Griffin Asnip, and Eleanor Dawson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorothy, a son, Timothy, and a grandson, Crockett. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, October 18 at St. Luke's Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to St. Luke's Church, 50 Pope Ave., Hilton Head, SC 29928 and designated for Kairos Prison Ministry.
