Wilbur Wallace Waters MUNCIE - Wilbur Wallace Waters, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016 after a long illness. He was born in Muncie, the son of Jesse and Clara (White) Waters and attended Burris High School and Ball State University, where he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. Wilbur was a lifelong resident of Muncie and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as an Artillery Instructor at Fort Hood, TX and Camp Chaffee, AR. Wilbur was employed by Ohio Causality Insurance Company for more than forty years and held several offices in the East Central Insurance Association. He loved Ball State Basketball and Football, his family, his neighbors and his cat, Sissy. Friendships were important to him and he had many lifelong friends. He was affectionately known as "The Mayor of Redbud Lane." Wilbur is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Susan (Parks) Waters, whom he met while they were students at Ball State University; two daughters, Brenda of Muncie and Karen of San Antonio, TX; one sister-in-law, Donna Wolfe of Eaton, OH; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister-in-law, Joann Parks Treffinger; and two brothers-in-law, James Treffinger and Gilbert Wolfe. Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016. The Veterans of Delaware County will provide full military honors at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Private burial will be held in Elm Ridge Cemetery at a later date.
