Wilbur H. "Hoots" Muthard, 86, of Wind Gap, formerly of Palmerton, died Saturday, January 7 in St. Luke's Hospital, Monroe Campus. He was the husband of the late Sarah J. "Betty" (Kern) Muthard, then companion of the late Mary Rader. Hoots was a career painter, working for both PPL and Bethlehem Steel, as well as being self-employed, for over 30 years. He also co-owned and operated the former Hoots and Betty's Tavern, Palmerton. Born in Bowmanstown, he was a son of the late Earl and Lillian Muthard. Survivors: Daughters Sheila, Crystal and Lynette; son Randy; many grandchildren; nieces and nephews; Ada, caregiver and sister of his late companion. Hoots was predeceased by a daughter Terri; brothers Carl, Dean and Dale; sisters Charlotte and Betty. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 11 at T.K. Thomas Funeral Home, 145 Delaware Ave, Palmerton.
