Wilbur Brown Jr.
Wilbur Brown, Jr. 65, of Puyallup, WA, formerly of Gary, IN, passed away March 17, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup with his loving family and close friends by his side. He was born in Gary, IN to Wilbur and Margaret Brown on August 3, 1951. Wilbur attended Tolleston High School and was a member of the school's Jr. Varsity Basketball team and a drummer in the Marching Band. He graduated from West Side High School in 1970. Wilbur worked for over 32 years for The Boeing Company, Renton, WA, as a Journeyman Level NC Machine Operator before retiring in 2005. He also spent 15 years at U.S. Steel's Gary Works as a Boiler Operator in the Power and Fuel plant. Wilbur is preceded in death by paternal grandparents Harry (Luvilla) Brown; maternal grandparents Samuel (Hattie Mae) Holmes; grandson; uncles Hubert and Carl Brown; aunt Ruth (Wilbur) Smith; niece Luvilla Hern "Muffy." He is survived and loved by his sons Damon (Francetta) Brown; Darian Brown; their mother Sharon Brown; daughters M. Janel and Jasmine Brown; their mother Veronica Brown; five grandchildren Taylor, Damon Jr., Payton, Asia, Portia; parents Wilbur and Marguerite Brown; sisters Margaret (William) Hern; Linda Brown McCarter; one aunt Virginia (William) Hampton; one uncle Albert (Winona) Brown, greataunt Mary L. Wagner and a host of relatives and special friends. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 20th Century Missionary Baptist Church, 700 W 11th Ave., Gary, IN 46402.
