Pontier, Wesley Wright Wesley Wright Pontier, age 95, of Grand Rapids, passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, October 11, 2016. Wesley was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Sara Marie Pontier, and his brother, Wilbur James Pontier. He is survived by his children, Roy Pontier, and Nancy and George Dykstra; his grandchildren, Jordan and Allison Dykstra, and Sara Dykstra; his great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Lillian Dykstra; also sisters-in-law, Bella Op't Hof and Anita Op't Hof, as well as several nieces and nephews. Wesley was born in Clifton, NJ, and proudly served his country during WW II as a member of the United States Navy Armed Guard. Wes worked for Raybestos Manhattan, Inc. for 42 years as an industrial engineer. Wes centered his life on his family and his church. He served as a deacon, elder, or trustee for churches in NJ, CT, SC, FL, and Grand Rapids MI. He was involved in the beginnings and growth of Church Creek PCA in South Carolina. He was a current member and elder-emeritus of Christ Church PCA in Grand Rapids. Over the years Wes enjoyed fishing, gardening, stained glass, painting, reading, cooking, and traveling. A service of remembrance will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Church PCA, 2500 Breton SE, Grand Rapids. Friends and relatives may meet the family beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, remembrance gifts may be made to World Renew or Mission to the World.
