Wayne David Wolfe Wayne David Wolfe, 86, passed away peacefully at his home near Wellington, CO on October 12, 2016 after a lengthy illness. Wayne was born in Ainsworth, Nebraska on March 28, 1930, the oldest child of Fred and Edna (Berg) Wolfe. He graduated from high school in Hay Springs and then served in the Navy on Guam and Saipan. After returning, he attended Chadron State College for two years. On July 24, 1955, he married Marianne Mueksch, in Hay Springs. They moved to Tulsa, OK, where he attended Tulsa University, receiving a BS in Geology. To this union were born two children, Valerie Ann and David Neil. Wayne worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers until his retirement in 1985. The family enjoyed many happy years and great friends in Oklahoma. After his retirement, they moved to Wellington, CO. They purchased land East of town that has a beautiful view of the Front Range. Wayne spent the rest of his days working to improve the land, caring for animals that he enjoyed so much, proudly watching his grandchildren grow up, and enjoying the view from his house on a hill. Wayne was preceded in death by Marianne. He is survived by daughter Valerie (John) Humphrey of Chadron, NE; son David (Mandy) Wolfe of Wellington, CO; six grandchildren; and one great grandson (the newest light of his life.) Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 2pm at First United Methodist Church, Fort Collins, CO. Inurnment will follow at the adjoining Columbarium.
