ROARING RIVER — Mr. Wavely Martin Hunt, 83, of Roaring River, husband of Bobbie Hunt, passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. James Joyce, the Rev. Keith Knox and the Rev. Dr. Harold Hudson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Thursday evening at Reins Sturdivant Funeral Home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Billie Hunt Martin; and four brothers, Ralph William Hunt Jr., Chester Hunt, Bobby Hunt and Freddie Hunt. Mr. Hunt was born May 18, 1933, in McDowell, West Virginia, to Ralph William and Connie Martin Hunt. He was retired from Chatham Manufacturing where he worked for 47 years. He served on the Board of Blue Ridge Water Association, the School Board of East Wilkes High School, Social Service Board and the Roaring River Fire Department Board. Mr. Hunt was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. In addition to his wife of 63 years, Bobbie Jean Brown Hunt, he is survived by three sons, Ron Hunt and wife Susie of North Wilkesboro, Don Hunt and wife Janet of Christiansburg, Virginia, and Bill Hunt and wife Shay of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Hunt Mitchell of Roaring River.
