Warren Utes of Chicago Heights and formerly of Park Forest died at age 96 on Feb. 12, 2017, at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. Warren was born on June 25, 1920, in Stevens Point, WI. He was pre-deceased by his parents, his brother Gordon and sisters Evelyn and Dorothy, and his wife, Kay, who died in 2014. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Bud James) of AZ, his nieces Mary Clabots of WI, Ann LaPlantes of ND, and Gretchen Peters Hantel of IL, his sister-in-law Helen LaHeist of CO and other in-laws in St. John's, NL, and by many friends. Warren was a pilot in WW II and, after taking up running at age 58, set national and world age group records over the next 25 years. A mass will be celebrated in his memory at St. Irenaeus Church, Orchard and Indianwood Sts., Park Forest on Saturday, Feb. 25; visitation 9-10 a.m., mass at 10 a.m. His ashes will be interred with those of his wife at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL, at a later date.
