Wanda J. Shanklin Stewartsville resident, great-grandmother, operated Baptist Church camps with her husband Wanda J. Shanklin, 93, of Stewartsville, N.J., passed away on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at the Care Center of Lopatcong in Lopatcong Township, N.J. Wanda was born in Kansas City, Kan., on March 17, 1923, to the late Jacob and Mary Jane Kincaid Hulse. Wanda was a secretary with Electric Boat in Groton, Conn. She was also a homemaker, caring for her family. Wanda was a graduate of Wyandotte High School of Kansas City and Alma White College, where she received her bachelor's degree in theology. She enjoyed playing the Hawaiian Guitar, reading, sewing and being with her children and grandchildren. Wanda was of the Baptist faith. She and her late husband, Paul, had operated Baptist Church Camps in Massachusetts and Lebanon, N.J. Wanda is survived by a son, Paul E. Shanklin II and his wife, Kathie, of Stewartsville, N.J.; daughters, Wanda Ries and her husband, Herb, of Solomons, Md., Mary Kaywork and her husband, Lee, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Janine Frans and her husband, Charlie, of Honolulu, Hawaii, Jaime Mayo and her husband, Ralph, of Bakersfield, Calif.; grandchildren, Paul Shanklin III and his wife, Courtney, Jeff Shanklin and his wife, Heather, Brian Kaywork and his wife, Tara, Tym Kaywork and his wife, Jennifer, Nicholas Kaywork and his wife, Stephanie, Aly Kaywork, Mary-Kate Kaywork, Courtney Mayo Dunbar and her husband, Clayton, Lindsey Mayo, and Jason Barlow and Amie Bleak; and great-grandchildren, Kelly, Madingly and Reid Shanklin, Barrett Mayo, Olivia Barlow, Tiber, BonScott, June, Hayleigh, Max and Hayden Kaywork. Wanda was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Paul E. Shanklin, who passed away in January 2002; sisters, Velma and Alice, and a brother, Maurice. A funeral service was held on Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, at at the Rupell Funeral Home, LLC, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, N.J. 08865. A visitation of family and friends was held prior service time at the funeral home. Entombment was held at Northampton Memorial Shrine in Palmer Township, Pa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Wanda's name to the Care Center of Lopatcong, 390 Red School Lane, Phillipsburg, N.J. 08865.
