Walter "Bruce" Winberg, 79, of Taunton, formerly of Brockton, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at his home in Taunton. He was the husband to Gloria T. (Deleon) Winberg. Walter was born in Brockton, the son of the late Walter W. and Janet Marie (Bruce) Winberg. He graduated from Brockton High School and then served his country during the Korean War with the United States Navy. Bruce began working at the shipyard in Quincy and then for the United States Postal Service for over forty years as a mail handler, retiring in 2014. He enjoyed going to the beach, watching television and was an avid New England Patriots fan. Survivors, besides his wife, are a daughter, Lynn A. Johnson and her husband Ernest of Taunton; three sons, Bruce E. Winberg and his wife Ann of Holyoke, Brian J. Winberg of Whitman and Eric J. Winberg and his wife Melanie of Saugus; five grandchildren, Christine, Elizabeth, Sarah, Madison and Alexandria. His family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, January 12, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a memorial service and military honors following at 11 a.m. in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Avenue, Taunton.
