She was born May 21, 1917 in Redkey, Indiana, the daughter of the late Thomas Roe and Lena L. (Elick) Rathbun, and was raised in Gladwin. In 1936, she married Arthur H. Anger in Gladwin and together they had four children: Donald R., Beverly Ray 'Buddy', Delores M. and Sharon E. Later, on June 30, 1945 she married Lester C. She volunteered at Brittany Manor for over nine years and participated in many craft shows at the Midland Mall and at the Midland County Fair. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery and quilt making. When her children were young she provided the neighborhood with many raised doughnuts and also shared many pecan pies, Texas sheet cakes and sticky buns. Even at 93 years old, Vivian was still driving friends to appointments and helping out her neighbors. She had many health issues and always came out a survivor. Her children called her 'Amazing Grace'; may we all come to know that strength. Vivian is survived by her daughters: Delores M. Russell of Southgate, Sharon E. (Rusty) Phillips of Midland, JoAnn (Jerry) Duford of Midland and Susan Hitchcock of Utica. She is also survived by step daughters Deloris (Frederic) Dunbar of Midland, Betty Cassiday of Flint, Carol Wasmuth of Coleman and Rosemary (Roger) Wise of Mason.
