Vito J. LoPICCOLO
LoPICCOLO VITO J. age 90, passed away October 14, 2016. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara; loving father of Janice (James) Thimlar and Linda (Andrew) Sloss; devoted grandfather of Bret (Breanne) Ceriotti Jr., Philip, Hannah, and Cameron Sloss; and dear brother of Grace Fontanive, the late Mary Barravecchia, the late Angie Biondo, the late Pearl Amella, and the late Catherine Watson. Vito was a retired Detroit Police Officer, a radio and TV Host, and a Press Coordinator for the Michigan International Speedway. He was also proud to be a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, where he earned a purple heart and a bronze star. He was a lifetime member and officer of the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association, founder and Past President of the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club, the chaplain of his VFW post and the American Legion Post 161, Vice President and on the Board of Directors for NAARFC, a member of the 5th Precinct Old Timers, and was a deacon and member of the Men's Club at the Church of the Master in Warren. Vito was proud to have been inducted into the Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame and the Indianapolis Motor-Speedway Museum and Hall of Fame. Visitation Friday, October 21, 2:30 - 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. American Legion Service at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield, Clinton Twp.
