Virginia L. Petrill
Virginia LaRue "Ginny" Petrill, 72, of Apollo, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017. She was born July 7, 1944, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late Charles and Anna Maxine Caddy Fisher. Ginny was a loving mother who devoted her life to her family. As a pastor's wife, she also dedicated an enormous amount of time and love over the years to the many parishioners of her husband's churches. She was friend and mentor to many. Ginny was never too busy to offer encouragement to anyone and she was known for being an eternal optimist who gave others hope when they needed it. In her professional life, she worked as a furniture salesperson for many years, most notably at the former Horne's Department Store. Additionally, for several years she lived in Cape May, N.J., made and sold beautiful custom gift baskets, and worked for the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce. Her primary happiness in life was being a loving, supporting partner to her husband, Al. In recent years, Ginny experienced many health issues but was blessed to be cared for by a wonderful group of people who made it possible for her to enjoy many years with her family, specifically her primary doctor, Dr. Jeffrey Reyer, and her cardiologist, Dr. Paul Kleist, who gave her quality care and personal encouragement, and her family is forever grateful. Additionally, her aide Jamie Flowers from Care at Home has been both friend and caretaker to Ginny, making her laugh while providing her excellent care. The family wishes to extend their most heartfelt appreciation to everyone who offered love and support to Ginny. The visits and cards enriched her life. In addition to her parents, Ginny was predeceased by a brother, William Fisher; her sister, Donna Walter; her "second dad", William Knupp; her best friend, Polly Moog; and her beloved dog, Parker. She is survived by her soulmate, her husband of 44 years, the Rev. Al Petrill; her "second mom", Mary Knupp; her children, Lynda (Ed), Joseph (Elaine), Karen, Jason (Heather), Jennifer (Eron) and adopted daughter, Paula; grandchildren, Brandon, Glenn, Chrissy (Gary) Shawn (Samantha), Laura (Phil), Chris, Emily, Matthew, Andrew, Max, Katie, Sam and Nik; and a great-grandson, Brian; nieces, Natalie and Stephanie; a great-niece, Olivia; and great-nephews, Ben and Fred. Friends will be received 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 North 2nd St., Jeannette. Additional visitation will take place 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 221 Ridge Ave., New Kensington, PA 15608, at which time a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., with Pastor Richard Grance presiding.
