Virginia Grace Neal Perkins
Virginia Grace Neal Perkins, 90, of Manchester, formerly of East Hartford, South Windsor, and Exeter, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016. She was born Jan. 14, 1926, in Roxbury, Massachusetts. Virginia graduated from East Hartford High School in 1944 and was employed as a typist by Travelers Insurance Company, where she retired after 33 years. Virginia was a member of the South United Methodist Church and a former member of South Windsor Senior Center. Virginia loved visiting Exeter, Hampton Beach, and Elizabeth Park. She was a nature girl, and had a true love for animals and all life. Throughout her life she enjoyed skating, biking, swimming, reading, writing, attending plays, playing cards and Scrabble, viewing movies with a great story line, and visiting with friends. Virginia traveled across country and to several countries and islands with her family and friend Virginia Ryan. She was predeceased by her father, Harold L. Perkins, and her mother, Marion N. Perkins; and her two close friends, Elsie Whitford and Virginia Ryan. Virginia is survived by her cousin, Robert and Dorothy Balch, their daughter, Linda Langley, and her children, Ally and Jason, of Venice, Florida, and second daughter, Lorraine Limero and husband, Tom, and their children, Rachel McGee, Christopher, and Kyle Limero of Houston, Texas. She is survived by her godchild, Louise Whitford Rivard, of Ashford; and friends Leonard Whitford Jr., of Tolland, Jane Mosley, of East Hartford, Cynthia Stanek of Coventry, Mary and John Angeli of Manchester. Family and friends may gather for visitation Friday, Oct. 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. by the Rev. John Marshall Jr. The following morning, Saturday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m. there will be a graveside service at Exeter Cemetery, Exeter.
