Virginia S. Ottaviani
Virginia S. Ottaviani, 87, formerly of Mocanaqua, died Monday, April 3, 2017, at Bonham's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Register. Born May 22, 1929 in Shickshinny, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Macuski and Helen (Coco) Koval Macuski. She attended Shickshinny schools. She worked at the former Martini's Silk Mill, then for many years at the former Luzerne Outerwear in Shickshinny, and finally at Berwick Knitting Mill, retiring in 1990. She lived in Mocanaqua for many years. She most recently resided at the Shickshinny high rise before moving to the Bonham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish/St. Mary's Church, Mocanaqua. She loved cooking and baking for family and friends. She also liked playing cards, going to the casino, and enjoyed crocheting for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Ottaviani, who died in 1998; and by her sister, Irene Truchon, who died in 1980. She is survived by her son, Peter Ottaviani, and his wife, Rene, Aston; grandchildren, Peter Ottaviani, Alexis Ottaviani, and Jillian Mink; two great-granddaughters, Sydney and Sabrina Mink; a sister, Caroline (Connie) Stancavage and her husband, Tony, Shickshinny; several nephews; and devoted cousin, Susan Macuski, Berwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Spirit Parish/St. Mary's Church, Mocanaqua, with her pastor, the Rev. Louis Kaminski, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Mocanaqua. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Tyanna Foundation at www.tyanna.org .
