Virginia M. Kirk
Virginia Mae Kirk, 96, a resident of Manchester Presbyterian Lodge in Erie, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017. Virginia was born in Indianola, to the late Jules C. Luyten and Rachel Bryce Luyten. She married William Kirk Aug. 23, 1941, and lived in Cheswick, before moving to Edinboro in 2001 to be near her son and family. For 20 years, Virginia was employed as a secretary/receptionist at the Joseph Horne Co. A very loving and giving person, Virginia especially enjoyed her family and was dearly loved in return and will be missed. She had many interests including baking, shopping, reading and watching the Steelers. Her husband of 66 years, William, died June 15, 2008. She also had a son, John Kirk, who died in 1965. Virginia's family includes her son, Jim Kirk and wife, Deb, of Edinboro; and their two children, Jonathan Kirk and wife, Julie, who are parents of Virginia's three great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Asher and Finley, and Regena Shirley and husband, John, all of Edinboro. Virginia also has a daughter-in-law, Eileen Chelgren, of Huntington Beach, Calif., and her two children, Jamie Petitt and husband, Chris, of Atlanta, Ga., and Brandi Karnes and husband, Lucas, also of Huntington Beach. A private family service will be held and burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Cheswick. Arrangements provided by VAN MATRE FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, of Edinboro.
