Virginia A. Brown
Virginia A. Brown, 83, passed away peacefully at her home on the 10th of October 2016, surrounded by her family. Virginia was born in June of 1933 and graduated Dunkirk High School in upstate New York in 1950. After school and prior to marriage, she worked as a secretary at Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation. September 1956 she married Navy Lt. (JG) James A. Brown of Crooked Creek, PA. Virg and Jim moved from Jacksonville, FL to Pittsfield, MA. Virg and Jim started raising a family in Pittsfield and then moved to Clifton Park, NY. While raising two children, she completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at SUNY Albany, NY. In 1979, the family moved to Huntersville, NC on Lake Norman. After a career in real estate, Virginia retired at age 65. Both Jim and Virginia cherished life on the Lake. They were very active in the community and enjoyed many different activities. They could often be found volunteering for the Red Cross, serving at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, playing in bridge and bowling leagues, boating or gardening. They were lifelong campers and world travelers. Virginia lived her life with gusto and was known for her quick wit. She instilled the importance of hard work and education in her children. September 8th Jim and Virginia celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Virginia is survived by her husband James A. Brown, their two children James Randall Brown and wife Reina, Donna Brown and husband Robert Villegas, three grandchildren Danielle Lovato and husband Phillip, Sonya Brown, and Jacqueline Brown, four great grandchildren Alysea, Luke, Derek, and Ariana. A memorial service will be held in celebration of Virginia's life at 2:00pm Saturday, October 15th at St. Peter's on the Lake, 8433 Fairfield Forest Road, Denver, NC 28037. The family request in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Virginia's name to The American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
