VIOLET WHITE CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Violet June Vance White, born June 7, 1923, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 11, 2016. She was a daughter of the late Joe and Lydia 'Maggie' Conn Vance. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Memphis 'Jack' White; son, Michael Gene White; brother, Harry Vance, and sisters: Gladys Dingess, Ruth Hinchman, Eileen Jackson, and Hazel Elkins. Survivors include her children: David (Aileen) White of Harts, W.Va., and Vena (Richard) McGuire and Karen (Dan) Boone, both of Pecks Mill, W.Va., and her brother, Jimmie Vance of Chapmanville. She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. During World War II she was a Nursing Cadet in the US Army and after the war worked at the Logan General Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She was a homemaker who enjoyed her family, gardening, and pier fishing at Emerald Isle, N.C. The family would like to thank everyone who offered support and prayers over the last years but especially her special friend, Mickey Bailey; her caregiver, Janetta Johnson, and her companion for the last six years, Buddy, her cat. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society. Services will be held at noon Friday, October 14, at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville with Rev. Roscoe Chafin officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, W.Va. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. ... Show More
