Violet Mae Watermann passed away in her home of 61 years on October 5, 2016, in Elgin, IL. She was 101 years old. Violet was born on May 12, 1915 in Lisbon Center, IL to her loving parents, Thor and Martha Abrahamson Egland. Violet owned and operated the Boroco Shoppe, a picture framing store, in downtown Elgin for 24 years. In addition, she was past President of the Fox Valley Rose Society as a champion rose grower, and a member (and choir member) of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. She was also a champion archer with her husband, Wilbert, as well as his co-pilot in flying their private plane. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbert L. Watermann and grandson Todd J. Watermann. Violet is survived by her children, Linda Rhoads, Leland (Carol) Watermann, and Lory (Pat) Prestidge; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Memorials made in Violet's name to St. Paul's United Church of Christ would be appreciated.
