Violet Maxine Lockett of Indianapolis passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016. She was 88 years old. Maxine was born on January 13, 1928 in Indianapolis to James and Edna (McClare) Roberts. Maxine worked for Western Electric for almost twenty years retiring in 1978. Maxine was married to the late James Lockett for nearly 36 years, and together they raised four children. Maxine was a member of Sugar Creek Baptist church for many years. She loved to create quilts, work on puzzles, keep up on the afternoon soaps, and watch the WWE. Maxine's greatest joy was spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, and her late husband, Maxine is preceded in death by her son John, and one granddaughter; Melissa. She is survived by her son James, and his wife Marsha; her daughters Peggy Hoskins and her husband Sam, and Brenda Furlough and her husband James. Also surviving are six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, as well as her sister, Nora Jean Palmer. There will be a short family visitation from 7:00 â€“ 8:30p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Hendryx Mortuary, Cumberland Chapel, 11636 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, IN. 46229. Graveside services will be Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at New Palestine Cemetery, 5050 S. 500 W. New Palestine, IN. 46163. Hendryx Mortuary is assisting Maxine's family with arrangements.
