Violet Dean Violet Dean, 96, of Denton, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. She was born in Hollis, Oklahoma on April 3, 1920 to Dollie May Cain and George Denton. She married the love of her life, Lealand Kenyon Dean on October 10, 1940 in Levelland, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 15, 1982. Violet retired from Five Area Telephone Cooperative after 30 years of service. Violet was a devoted Texas Tech fan. She loved her Red Raiders and was recognized for not missing a football game at Jones AT&T Stadium for 29 years. Violet loved the community of Muleshoe, Texas, her home for over 46 years. Violet relocated to Denton in 1998. She was a faithful follower of Christ and member of First Baptist Denton. Violet was known for her love of people and never meeting a stranger. She boldly shared her faith with everyone she met. Violet left this earth knowing her children,grandchildren,and great grandchildren are all believers in Christ Jesus. Violet leaves behind an amazing legacy of faith (3 John 1:4). Violet (GiGi) is survived by her son, Lealand Dean and wife Louise of Denton, grandchildren, Fawnda Dooley and husband Jeff of Denton; Tonya Allen and husband Randy of Atlanta, Texas; Lealand "Lee" Dean, JR and wife Mary of Denton. great grandchildren, Lauren Atkinson and husband Ryan of Denton; Rachel Roten and husband Eric of Ft. Worth, Texas; Hannah McFerren and husband Garrett of Denton; Petty Officer 2nd Class Aaron Allen (US Navy) and wife Ria of Wahiawa, Hawaii; Nikki, Megan, and Kelly Allen of Atlanta, Texas; Lillia, Daniel, Jacob, Reuben, Caleb, and Isaac Dean all of Denton, great-great-grandchildren, Ryder and Reese Roten of Ft. Worth, Texas; Addilyn and Asher Atkinson of Denton. Graveside service and burial will be held on Saturday, February 18 at 10:00 am at Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial and celebration of her life will be held in the sanctuary of First Baptist Denton on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to the building fund of First Baptist Church, 1100 Malone Denton, Texas 76201. Ellis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
