Vernon F. Struck
Struck, Vernon F. March 22, 1927 February 10, 2017 Vern departed life and his beloved family, pets and friends on February 10th. Since December, he had been suffering with complications from congestive heart failure. Vern truly gave new meaning to the phrase "home grown". Born in Santa Ana, he spent his youth on the family ranch (Struck Avenue) and graduated from Orange Union High School in 1944. He held numerous jobs within the City of Orange including Wally's Market, Orange Packing House, Anaconda Wire & Cable Co., and a tour of duty in the Navy during WWII. Vern worked at UPS for 32 years initially as a driver and then advancing into management ending his career in Loss Prevention. Vern was preceded in death by his parents, Clara & Albert Struck; a brother, Arthur,a sister, Dorothy Lembke Holley; and his son, Stephen. Vern is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie; daughter, Debbie & Doug Zollweg; son, Phil (Bummer) & Janice; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude to friends, neighbors and especially Alethea Home Care for their continuous care, support and assistance. A celebration and memorial of Vern's life will be held on Friday, February 17th at 11:00 am at Shannon Family Mortuary located at 137 E. Maple Avenue, Orange. A gathering to celebrate and share stories will be held immediately following.
