October 3, 1926 - January 28, 2017 Beloved husband, father, grandpa and friend, Vernon Galbraith died peacefully in Mount Vernon, Washington at the age of 90. Vernon was born in Bellingham, took a train ride to New Mexico at 16, acquired his pilot's license at 17, and served our country in WWII. Vernon attended Western Washington College, then joined Galbraith Bros Logging Co., which he later would run with his brothers (Alvin and Jim). Vernon served on Arlington Bank's board, was a Hi- Lead Loggers Assn. founding director, served as president of the local rotary club and retired as President of Rothenbuhler Engineering. Vernon married his lovely wife Patricia Williams, in 1947. Vernon & Patricia's road together spanned the globe as they shared a love for travel. Vernon was an avid snow and water skier, he spent countless weekends teaching his children and friends how to ski. Even at age 74, Vernon taught snow skiing to 4-5 year olds at Stevens Pass. Vernon is survived by his wife Patricia; his sister, Mary Lea; his children, Hugh (Chris), Dwight (Margaret), Brett (Jude) and Stephanie, along with his grandchildren, Chad, Angela, Andrew, Elizabeth, Addison and Caden. A memorial service for Vernon Galbraith will be held Saturday, February 18th at 10:30 AM at the Assembly of God Church in Darrington, followed by a luncheon at the Darrington Community Center. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 3:00 PM at the Saxon Cemetery outside of Acme, Washington. Graveside services are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
