JONES, Veralee (Age 96) Veralee Jones passed away peacefully in God's arms on April 7, 2017 in Spokane, Washington. She was born in Alva, Oklahoma and was raised by her parents Homer and Ruby (Murley) Elliott. Veralee graduated from Oklahoma A. and M. with a degree in Education and Music. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority, selected as the official first Sweetheart of Sigma Chi and recorded piano accompaniment to several songs with Gene Autry during her college years. Soon after college, Veralee met the love of her life, Loring M. Jones at a Navy Officer's Club Dance. They lived in Moscow, ID for nearly 38 years and were happily married for 57 years until his passing. Veralee worked at the University of Idaho for 22 years, was a member of P.E.O., the Audubon Society, White Pine Society and Friends of McCroskey State Park. Veralee favored a jazzy tune, from Glen Miller to Rod Stewart. She always had a smile on her face, a twinkle in her eye and a quick witted sense of humor. Picnicking and spending time in nature with her husband, Loring, was one of her favorite pastimes. Veralee was a wonderful cook and to her, everything was always better with either white gravy or chocolate. Her love of family and gracious spirit will be missed by all who knew her. Veralee is survived by her three daughters, Loralee "Lorrie" (Dr. Bob Billings) Jones, Kimberly "Kim"Jones and Maralee "Molly" (Tom) Beil; eight grandchildren: Jamie, Andy, Angie, Amy, Carrie, Josh, Erin, Michael; and nine great-grandchildren.
