Taylor, Vera Ellen Age 78; Valrico, Florida formerly of Alma; passed away Monday October 3, 2016. Per her wishes a cremation has taken place. Vera was born in St. Louis, Michigan May 13, 1938 the daughter of Vern J. Howell and Emma Elizabeth (Swan) Howell. She married Walter Taylor May 11, 1956. Vera spent her early career as a telephone operator for the General Telephone Company in Alma. Later on she devoted herself to providing a home for dozens of foster care children. During this time she also developed a talent for custom cake decorating and spent many late hours creating beautiful cakes. Retiring in Florida, Vera soon found herself looking for something to keep her occupied. She opened a small gift and craft store in the Cape Coral Florida, also producing custom cakes again. She obtained her cosmetology license and began doing manicuring and nail art. Later Vera and Walt moved to the Valrico area and truly retired. Vera is survived by three sons Robert (Robbyen)Taylor of Tampa, Fl.; Edward (DeAnna) Taylor of Ithaca; Allen Taylor of Largo, Fl.; Four Grandchildren Amber (Robert) Ryan of Davie, Fl.; Robert Jr. (Emma) Taylor of Spring Creek, NV.; Anthony Taylor of Ithaca and Amiee Taylor of St. Louis; and six great grandchildren. One sister; Sarah Johnson, of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Walter Taylor, and her daughter Brenda, In addition, Vera was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Joe, Jim and Don; seven sisters Helen, Dorothy, Eileen, Georgiana, Kathrine, Fern and Verna. Memorial contributions may be made to Alma, MI. East Superior Christian Church. Interment will be at Chapel Gardens Cemetery, Elwell, MI.
