DOYLE--Tom. Sculptor, born May 23, 1928 in Jerry City, OH, died at home in Roxbury, CT. on October 8, 2016. He served in the Army in Germany, attended Miami University Oxford, OH. Received his B.A. and M.A. from Ohio State University where he studied with Roy Lichtenstein and Stanley Twardowicz. His sculpture has been shown in Galleries and Museums throughout the United States; as well as Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, France and Italy. He was a recipient of a John Simon Guggeneheim Fellowship Award in Sculpture, National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship Award in Sculpture, City University Research Award, Ohioana Career Award, American Academy of Arts and Letters Lifetime Achievement Award. A member of the National Academy of Design and American Abstract Artists. His marriage to Natalie Burdette ended in divorce; his marriage to Eva Hesse, with her death. He is survived by his wife, Jane (Miller) Doyle, with whom he lived for over 50 years.
