OKEECHOBEE - Timothy Douglas Throop died Feb. 4, 2017. He was born Dec. 10, 1957, in West Palm Beach to late James Clark and Marguerite (Tew) Throop. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy. He was part of the Aerospace Machinist Union and worked nearly 40 years at Pratt Whitney as a union jet engine mechanic. A resident of Okeechobee for 10 years, he enjoyed saltwater fishing, traveling, tinkering, and taking care of his family. He was known to be quite the comedian and loved to cook. Mr. Throop was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimbo and David Throop (Jil); and his sister-in-law, Patti Throop. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Judy Throop, of Okeechobee; three brothers, John Throop, of North Palm Beach, Joe Throop, of West Palm Beach, and Chris Throop; sister, Susan Cheney (John), of Tennessee; mother-in-law, Trish Haven, of Ft. Lauderdale; sisters-in-law, Mireya Throop, of Lantana and Kathy Brindle (Vinny), of Ft. Lauderdale; brothers-in-law, Steve Gilliland, of Okeechobee and Tim Gilliland, of Ft. Lauderdale; and a host of nieces and nephews. A celebration of life, gathering of friends, a time to come together and remember as well as a barbeque celebration in his honor will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.
