HAMLET, N.C. — Timothy "Tim" W. Franklin, 51, of Hamlet, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Sept. 27, 1965 in Richmond County, a son of the late Leonard H. and Irene Brigman Franklin. Tim was a loving husband and father, and his family meant the world to him. Tim enjoyed coaching his boys in their younger years and teaching them to hunt and fish. Tim was outgoing and for all who had the pleasure of knowing him, it was easily recognized that Tim simply loved life. Tim chose a second profession later in life, and in 2014, Tim went to work as a registered nurse at Scotland Memorial Hospital. He was a giving man, and being a nurse and helping others was important to him. Tim was a proud member of the Hamlet Masonic Lodge No. 532, and he was an active member of the Marks Creek Presbyterian Church family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Franklin. Tim is survived by his wife of 28 years, Debbie McDuffie Franklin of Hamlet; his two sons, Mead Franklin and Brent Franklin of Hamlet; two sisters, Susan Tibbs and Shelia Boone both of Rockingham; and a brother, Odell Franklin and wife Donna of Hamlet. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Marks Creek Presbyterian Church with Pastor Ken Goins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
