Shirley, Thomas Gary April 25 1942 - October 12, 2016 Thomas Gary Shirley, 74, of Deatsville, AL passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in his residence. Gary was preceded in death by his mother and father Millie and Euell Shirley; brothers John Euell Shirley and Billy Shirley; and son, Keith Alan Keene. He is survived by his wife, Betsey Thomas Shirley; siblings Annie Lou Campell and husband George W, Gladys Faye Bradford, Betty Joe Myers and husband Glenn, Tommy Windham Shirley and wife Rose Marie, Terry Shirley and wife Cindy; children Anna Christie Kelly and husband Gregory David, Cathie G Bolno and husband Paul Jay, Jeanne Shirley Walker and husband Daniel Kevin, Joan Shirley Summerford, and Tina Elizabeth (Beth) Teague and husband Robert Troy; grandchildren Brandon Scott Kelly, Cameron David Kelly, Thomas Eric Summerford, Jessica Keene Butler, Dillon Thomas Kelly, Alexandria Denise Walker, Brittany Nicole Burhenn, Brooke Danielle Walker, Hunter Alan Echols, Robert Mason Teague, and Hannah Elizabeth Teague; numerous nieces and nephews along with a very large extended family. As a young adult, Gary served his country in the United States Army. He also served the City of Montgomery and State of Alabama for over 40 years in the law enforcement profession. He was a member of First Baptist Church Posey Crossroad where in the past, he regularly played the guitar during service. He loved the Lord and was a complete believer in that his eternal retirement plan would be spent in Heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Memorial Services will be held Sunday, October 16 at 2 pm CST at First Baptist Church Posey Crossroad, 576 County Road 40 W, Prattville, AL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church Posey Crossroad or Gentiva Hospice. The church would like to provide the family and friends with a meal following the service. All are invited to attend.
