Thomas J. Reder
Thomas J. Reder, 82, of East Tawas, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, Oct. 11, 2016 at Lakeview Manor Nursing Home in Tawas City. Thomas was born July 25, 1934 in Bay City to the late Alexander "Bob" R. and Esther (Beyer) Reder. He graduated from Visitation High School in Bay City in 1953. Following graduation, Thomas enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served from 1956-1958. Thomas was a meat cutter at the A&P for 25 years and spent 35 years operating Tom Reder Catering. He also spent many years at Ed Freel's Market. Once a month, Thomas cooked for the Men's Club for nearly 35 years. He was a devout member of Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas, a life member of the Knights of Columbus No. 2709, a Fourth Degree Fr. Newman Assembly Color Corps, Past Grand Knight two separate times, and a Faithful Navigator. Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Veronica "Bunny," whom he married on May 9, 1964; sons, Thomas R. (Toni) Reder of Howell and Paul J. (Janet) Reder of Saline; grandchildren, Justin and Sara Reder, and Veronica and Michael Reder; sister, Sandy (Melvin) Lafevre of Bay City; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Reder; father-in-law, John Pavlik; and mother-in-law, Alberta Pavlik. According to Thomas's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 516 West Lincoln St., East Tawas. Thomas's family will welcome friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass.
