THOMAS EDWARD LLOYD
THOMAS EDWARD LLOYD Colonel, U.S. Air Force (Retired) Thomas "Tom" Lloyd passed away on October 9, 2016 at his home in Fairfax, VA. He was 81. Tom retired from Salient Federal Solutions last year and had a 30+ year career in senior leadership positions starting in CACI, SI International and Salient. He was both a founder of Salient and Vice President of Corporate Development. Before starting his business career, Tom also had a 25-year career as an officer in the United States Air Force starting in 1960. He retired in 1985 as a Colonel after a five-year tour working directly for the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Financial Management) in the Pentagon. Tom was an instructor at the Air War College and also graduated from the Air War College in 1978. He also graduated from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Air Command and Staff College, and Squadron Officers School. He was awarded the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (Two Oak Leaf Clusters), and Air Force Commendation Medal. He is survived by three sons, Tom Jr. of Ft Lauderdale, FL, Chris of Houston, TX, and JK of Charleston, SC. His marriage to Beverly ended in an amicable divorce. A funeral Mass and burial at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors will occur at a later date. The Murphy Funeral Home in Arlington VA is handling all arrangements.
