Thomas F. Kowalczyk, 90, of Fredericktown, died Saturday, October 15, 2016, in Mon Valley Hospital. Born May 9, 1926, in Vestaburg, he was a son of Joseph and Stella Sikorski Kowalczyk. Mr. Kowalczyk was a graduate of East Bethlehem High School, Class of 1944, and was the class valedictorian. He was the loving husband of Tracey Righetti, who died June 5, 1993. Together, they had four children, Thomas Frank Kowalczyk Jr. and Marcy Kowalczyk Baily, who survive, and sons Joseph M. and Edmund J., who died in 1965. Mr. Kowalczyk retired from RCA after working there for more than 25 years. He worked as group leader of the purchased materials inspections department (PMI department). Following his retirement from RCA, "Tom." as he was affectionately known by the parishioners, worked as a custodian for 25 years for St. Oliver Plunkett church, Fredericktown. He was a kind and humble gentleman who enjoyed gardening, tending to his home and helping his family and friends. His creativity was evident in the building projects he undertook using various materials. He was a loving grandfather, father, son and friend. Surviving are his son, Thomas Jr. of Fredericktown; daughter Marcy (Bill) Baily,of Carmichaels; grandchildren Tiffany, Jennifer, Taylor and Miranda; and four great-grandchildren. Deceased, in addition to his wife and sons Joseph and Edmund, are a grandson, Eli; sisters Helen Hagyari and Laura Katruska; and brothers Chester, Alexander B, Walter E. and Joseph A. Kowalczyk. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Frank Burkus Funeral Home, 26 Mill Street, Millsboro, PA 15348, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, with Thomas St. Clair officiating. Interment will follow in Fredericktown Cemetery.
