Garski, Thomas Thomas A. Garski, 69, of Custer, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born on Aug. 5, 1947, to Elizabeth (Goszkowicz) Garski and the late Felix Garski, and was a 1965 graduate of Rosholt High School. He entered the U.S. Army on Dec. 31, 1964, in Milwaukee, and served as a Combat Engineer - having earned the National Defense Service Medal. His honorable discharge, at the rank of Sergeant, took place on Dec. 4, 1967, at Ft. Dix, New Jersey. His first marriage was to Bonita Ostrowski. He later married Doreen Schultz. Doreen died on Dec. 4, 2004. Tom had worked for Jerzak Trucking and Struck & Irwin Trucking. He then owned Tomek's Tavern in Rosholt. For the past 12 years, Tom had been the caregiver to his son, Chase. He was a member of American Legion Post 509 and P.L.A.V. Post 185. His interests included playing his guitar and singing old country music for family & friends, hunting, fishing and socializing. Survivors include his sons, Wayne (Diane) and Chase; mother, Elizabeth Garski; and siblings, Rita Jerzak, Florian (Diane), Alice Klopatek, Robert (Betty), David (Minnie), Carl (Linda), Lucy Kluck (Darrel), Jane (Arty) Kedrowicz, Debra Yenter and Joseph. He was preceded in death by his father, Felix; wife, Doreen; sister, Joanie Wiza; brother, George; and brothers-in-law, Don Klopatek and Kenneth Kluck. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt with the Rev. Jeffrey Hennes officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Pisarski Funeral Home, 703 Second St. in Stevens Point; and again at the church on Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time for Mass.
