Thomas William Franco
September 13, 1926 - October 12, 2016 Thomas William Franco passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at his home in Daphne, AL. He was 90 years old. Billy was born September 13, 1926 in Mobile, AL to Thomas Peter and Ruth Boyette Franco. He attended McGill Institute and after serving in the Merchant Marines returned to graduate from Murphy High School. Billy married Dorothy Ann Brignac, January 22, 1955. Billy was baptized into the Catholic faith, and he and his family attended St. Pius X Church, and later St. Mary's Church in Mobile, AL where he was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society, served on the School Board, and was a Eucharistic Minister. After moving to Daphne, AL he attended Christ the King Church where he was an active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Billy was a career employee of the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio/ICG Railroad retiring in 1986. After retirement he volunteered with the American Red Cross as a driver for blood pickups and deliveries. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Thomas Peter Franco, and his sister, Mary E. (Betty) Harrison, and niece Rebecca Harrison. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Brignac Franco, daughters Anne F. Lewis (Jay) of Satsuma, AL, Connie F. Howen (Tom) of Daphne, AL, son Thomas J. Franco (Lori) of Scottsdale, AZ. 5 grandchildren, Brittany, Kelsey, Rachel, and Jaclyn Franco of Scottsdale, AZ, and Jay Howen of Daphne, AL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Comfort Keepers', as well as Kindred Hospice, Nurse Tammie Robinson, and all the aids who cared for Billy over the past months. A special thanks to DJ and Gladys who spent many watchful nights making sure Billy was safe and comfortable. Services will be held Monday, October 17th, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Daphne, AL with visitation at 10:30 a.m. and a Memorial Mass following at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family request memorials be made to the Burse Club or St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o Christ the King Church, 711 College Ave., Daphne, AL 36526.
