Thomas A. DuBay
Thomas A. DuBay, age 56 of Monroe, died at 9:37 a.m. Saturday at the home of his mother after being recently diagnosed with cancer. Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Rupp Funeral Home. He will lie in state at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church where a Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Rev. Robert Singelyn, a priest in residency at St. Mary's, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe. Born May 18, 1960, in Monroe, he was the son of Alfred and Patricia (Gleason) DuBay. He attended Monroe Catholic Central High School and was a 1978 graduate of Monroe High School. For several years in the 1980s, Tom was a parking attendant in downtown Monroe for First National Bank before going to work for Ace Paper Company and the Meijer Warehouse. Tom was a classic car enthusiast and a Monroe history buff. He enjoyed listening to public radio and jazz music. His favorite hobby, however, was cooking as he was often found shopping regularly at the downtown Farmer's Market. Tom is survived by his mother, Patricia DuBay of Monroe; a sister, Michele (Kevin) DuBay-Cassidy of LaSalle; and a nephew, Micah Cassidy of LaSalle. He was preceded in death by his father.
