BLACK, Thomas Bowman Thomas Black, aged 88, died September 18, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Ann Black. He was predeceased by his parents, Alzada Bowman and Charles Lund Black, by his brother Charles L. Black, Jr. and his sister Betty Hatchett, and by the mother of his children, Betty Woodruff Black. He is survived by their three children, Thomas Woodruff Black, Lucy Ann Black, and Lisa Alzada Coulter. Thomas was a graduate of Pease School, Allen Junior High, Austin High School, the University of Texas and U.T. School of Law, where he was a member of the most prestigious honorary societies, the Chancellors, as well as the Order of the Coif. He practiced law in Austin for many years prior to moving to San Antonio, where he resided for the rest of his life, to join the faculty of St. Mary's Law School. At Tom's direction there will be no funeral. He wanted to be remembered by these final words, "In a world of doubt and cynicism he remained steadfastly loyal to the music and memory of Bix Beiderbecke and to the New York Yankee baseball team, and he was proud to be a lifelong liberal Democrat."
